Overview
1824 Bar is the private cocktail bar reserved for the exclusive use of The Shelbourne’s overnight in-house guests. Tucked away off the grand staircase, away from the bustle of the hotel and the city outside, 1824 offers a sophisticated atmosphere. A top shelf-only bar with a hand-picked list of high-end drinks, cocktails, and whiskeys, the 1824 is named for the year the hotel opened, and there is a unique visual record of those 200 years of history in the form of hand-painted mural panels on either side of the bar. By artist Paul Slater in his own inimitable style, the painted mural is a wonderful fantasy landscape populated by a variety of characters from Irish fiction, film, and history, as well as guests from across the hotel’s last two centuries.
